Sonographer II, Full Time, Benefited, Days, 8hours, 1.0fte

About the Role

Performs Diagnostic Ultrasound procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision, within established departmental policies and procedures. Must be fully proficient in all duties required of this position. Position covers Emergency Department ultrasound services for a Level 1 trauma hospital, including emergent General Ultrasound and OB exams with Women's Clinic rotations for DVP scans. Trauma experience is preferred.

Option for on-call availability is offered. Call-back may be required with arrival within 60 minutes of notification. Women's clinic rotations will require a moderate number of DVP scans each day.

Responsibilities

• Assists in orienting new staff and training Sonography students.
• Explains process to patient, and instructs and assists patient in assuming physical position for examination.
• Keys test data and patient information into computer of ultrasound equipment to maintain record of test results.
• Moves transducer, by hand, over specified area of body and observes sound wave display screen to monitor quality of ultrasonic pattern produced.
• Operates equipment that produces images of internal organs and records diagnostic data on storage media.
• Organizes and maintains clean work area, equipment, and inventory.
• Selects equipment for use in ultrasound setup according to specifications of examination.
• Selects transducer and adjusts equipment controls according to organ to be examined, depth of field, and other specifications of test.

Requirements

• Twelve months recent experience in clinical ultrasound.
• BLS - Basic Life Support Certification issued by AHA-American Heart Association.
• Current American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification, or registry in Ultrasound by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) preferred. Must be registered in one anatomical specialty.

Education sufficient to meet requirements for registry by ARDMS or ARRT in ultrasound.

Pay

Pay range: $80.97 - $99.89/hr. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and operational needs of the organization.
