Role Overview
The Sonographer demonstrates expertise in human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology, performing diagnostic ultrasound procedures independently and operating ultrasound equipment according to Radiologist directives. They ensure high ethical standards, maintain patient confidentiality, and accurately manage medical records.
Responsibilities
- Conducting sonographic assessments
- Identifying normal and abnormal findings
- Analyzing images
- Effectively communicating results to physicians
- Practicing safety protocols
- Adhering to professional codes of ethics
Qualifications
- Completion of AMA-approved ultrasound training
- Certification in RDMS or equivalent
- Ability to obtain specialty credentials
- BLS certification required
