About the role

As a Sonographer at Intermountain Health, you will perform daily sonographic procedures, operate ultrasound equipment independently, and conduct diagnostic sonographic procedures under Radiologist guidance. You will maintain high medical ethics, uphold patient confidentiality, and continuously improve your skills to ensure professional competence.

Responsibilities

• Access, manage, and accurately update patient medical records through Hospital Electronic Medical Record Information Systems.
• Maintain patient confidentiality as outlined by privacy and HIPAA guidelines.
• Practice according to the SDMS Code of Ethics for the Profession of Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound.
• Perform accurate clinical assessments to identify patient signs and symptoms and adapt procedures as appropriate.
• Operate sonographic equipment to identify and record anatomical, pathological, and diagnostic images.
• Use independent judgment to differentiate between normal and pathologic findings during sonograms.
• Initiate appropriate methods to document, clarify, and quantify disease processes.
• Analyze sonograms, synthesize sonographic information with medical history, and communicate findings to physicians.
• Practice universal safety precautions to minimize exposure to patients, self, and staff.

Requirements

• Satisfactory completion of formal ultrasound training in an AMA-approved school and/or formal on-the-job ultrasound training in addition to graduating from an AMA-approved medical program.
• For Sonographer I: RDMS Physics SPI Registry upon hire or equivalent (ARRT, CRGS, etc). RDMS or equivalent abdominal or OB/GYN specialty within 6 months of hire. Ability to obtain abdominal or OB/GYN specialty credentialing and RVT within a reasonable period after hire. BLS required within 60 days of hire.
• For Sonographer II: RDMS Physics SPI Registry or equivalent (ARRT, CRGS, etc). Registry in 4 or more specialties. BLS required within 60 days of hire.
• Ability to see, read, and interpret information, labels, and patient needs.
• Frequent verbal communication with care providers, patients, and visitors, including during emergencies.
• Manual dexterity to operate complex equipment, including computers for documentation and medication preparation.
• Physical ability to lift, bend, and transfer patients and equipment, including heavy items.
• Ability to walk, push/pull equipment, and navigate crowded spaces.
• May be required to stand for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in abdominal, OB/GYN, small parts, vascular, and interventional ultrasound.

Pay

The hourly range for this full-time (40 hours per week) position is $35.62 - $57.36, dependent upon experience.

Schedule

Full-time, variable schedule based at St. James Hospital in Butte, Montana.
