We deliver secure, high-quality language solutions in 80+ spoken and signed languages for USCIS and other federal agencies. We are seeking Soninke Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Soninke, also known as Maraka or Sarakole, is a Mande language spoken in Mali, Senegal, Mauritania, Ivory Coast, and Gambia, and is a rare but important language often required for asylum and immigration proceedings.
Responsibilities
- Provide real-time Soninke ↔ English telephonic interpretation for USCIS officers, applicants, and stakeholders.
- Interpret with accuracy, impartiality, and professionalism in immigration, legal, and asylum contexts.
- Maintain confidentiality under USCIS/DHS interpreter standards.
- Manage both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge calls.
- Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and QA audits.
Qualifications
- Native or near-native fluency in Soninke and English.
- 2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, asylum, NGO, community, or government strongly preferred).
- Strong cultural knowledge of West African Soninke-speaking communities.
- Familiarity with interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and impartiality standards.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 clearance.
