Sonic Inspector I

About the role

We are currently seeking a Sonic Inspector in the Bar Inspection department at our Monroe, NC facility. As a sonic operator, you will play a valuable role in helping ensure our products and materials meet customer expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Process material in the sonic tank and through the immersion tactic to perform contact sonic
  • Perform tasks to assist in set-up and operating equipment
  • Follow prescribed safety regulations
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and legible logs, records, and charts
  • Operate heavy machinery such as forklifts and cranes
  • Train for 3 months (or 400 hours) and receive 40 hours of classroom training and receive hands on instruction
  • Learn to operate all instruments and test systems
  • Learn to read technical instructions and mill instructions
  • Pass written and practical examinations after 3 months training
  • Operate the equipment under the direct supervision of a Level II
  • Accept or reject indications, perform calibrations, and work to all procedures as required
  • Organize and report inspection results in a thorough manner
  • Be thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the techniques for which the individual is qualified and apply those techniques as required
  • Requalify every 3 years by written and practical examination as required by T.I. QC-20 addenda 1 and 2

Requirements

  • Demonstrate an eagerness to learn, showing initiative, commitment to teamwork, attention to detail, integrity, and honesty
  • Work a night shift from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am, rotating on a 2-2-3 schedule
  • Pass an in-depth vision screening
  • Pass a Sonic Assessment

Qualifications

  • One (1) year of manufacturing experience is preferred
  • Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure including whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
  • Basic computer skills
  • Read tape measure and micrometer
  • Read and understand instructions
  • Utilize common hand tools
  • Lift objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds and work in hot conditions
