Sommeier (Full Time)
We have an opening for full time Sommelier positions. Location: 945 Madison Avenue, New York, NY 10021. Note: Online applications accepted only.
- Schedule: Full time schedules; open availability is preferred, days and hours may vary. More details upon interview.
Requirement: Prior upscale dining experience is required.
Fixed Pay Rate: $17.00 per hour.

Marcel is located in the iconic Breuer building on Madison Avenue, a Roman and Williams-designed space created in partnership with Sotheby’s where cuisine, art, and design converge. Led by Chef-Partner Marie-Aude Rose and Executive Chef Juan Moncalvo, the restaurant serves refined continental cuisine rooted in French tradition and inspired by Chef Rose’s homage to the Paris she knows and loves. The menu blends classical technique with modern New York sensibilities, focusing on seasonality and highlighting carefully sourced local ingredients with minimal, thoughtful enhancement.
Sommelier Responsibilities
- Create and update wine lists with the chefs and manager.
- Make recommendations on food and wine pairings.
- Ensure that the wine cellar is fully stocked.
- Inform guests on the variety of wines available. Train wait staff on available wines.
- Negotiate prices with vendors.
- Organize wine tasting events.
- Comply with health and safety regulations.
Sommelier Requirements
- Certification as a sommelier or a degree in hospitality is beneficial.
- Previous experience as a sommelier, wine steward, or in a hospitality role. Extensive knowledge on wines and regions of the different types.
- Knowledge of local vineyards and wineries. Understanding of the wine making process.
