About the Role
Shipping duties include filling containers, tank trailers, blending, transferring, and shipping products. The role involves both monitoring and operating chemical processes, ensuring safety, efficiency, and product quality in a chemical plant environment.
Responsibilities
- Monitor recording instruments, flowmeters, and level indicators.
- Control or operate chemical processes or systems of machines.
- Record operating data such as test results and flow readings.
- Confer with technical and supervisory personnel to report or resolve conditions affecting safety, efficiency, and product quality.
- Draw samples of products to send to the laboratory for testing.
- Regulate or shut down equipment during emergency situations, as directed by supervisory personnel.
- Start and stop pumps.
- Perform environmental sampling and log sheet rounds.
- Line up valves from specified tanks to make transfers.
- Patrol work areas to ensure solutions in tanks are not in danger of overflowing.
- Inspect operating scrubber flows.
- Operate machinery that regulates the flow of materials and products.
- Turn valves to regulate flow of products to tanks, storage drums, tote bins, bulk trailers, cylinders, or isotainers.
- Transfer flammable and corrosive propellant from drums, cylinders, bulk storage tanks, and bulk trailers.
- Manage waste materials in accordance with BMP’s and environmental procedures.
- Calculate material requirements or yields according to formulas.
- Gauge tank levels.
- Maintain a written log of shift activities, as required.
- Load and unload tank trucks, tank cars, portable containers, etc.
- Climb ladders and stairways, as necessary.
Requirements
- 3+ years of operations-related experience in a plant/manufacturing environment OR an Associate’s degree in Process Technology.
- Process Technology Degree or Certificate is preferred.
- Willingness to work Monday – Friday 8-hour shifts or 12-hour shift rotation.
