Solutions Engineer

About the role

The Solutions Engineer role is a pre-sales, technical position focused on architectural selling within the Americas. The role involves working closely with Account Executives, Portfolio Account Teams, and Partners to drive Cisco Networking brand preference with customers. The Solutions Engineer will partner with customers to understand their requirements, recommend the best products and solutions, and present these to key decision-makers.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Account Executives to drive business and growth opportunities
• Enable technology capabilities internally with Portfolio Account Teams and externally with our partners
• Understand customer requirements and map technical solutions to meet the needs
• Network design
• Product and solution knowledge: Product positioning, differentiation across solutions, operational characteristics
• Perform product demo and Proof of Concept (PoC) labs
• Align cross-functionally to various business entities and teams across the company
• Challenger mindset to help customers with complex/challenging digital transformation opportunities

Requirements

• 5+ years of proven experience sizing and designing Routing, Wireless and Switching deployments both On-Prem and Cloud Based
• 5+ years of developed skills and knowledge in networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, LISP)
• Understanding of competitive networking products such as HPE/Aruba, Juniper, Arista, Fortinet

Qualifications

• BS/BA in EE/CS or equivalent
• Pre-sales experience
• Cisco and non-Cisco Certifications (CCIE, CCDE, CCNP, DevNet, AWS, Google, Terraform) preferred
• API and programmability knowledge preferred

The starting salary range for this position is $190,100.00 to $240,000.00, with individual pay determined by location, market conditions, and other factors. Cisco also offers additional paid time off, flexible vacation time, and grants of Cisco restricted stock units. For quota-based sales roles, incentive compensation is included in the salary range.

Pay

The starting salary range for this position is $190,100.00 to $240,000.00, reflecting the projected salary range for new hires in this position in U.S. and/or Canadian locations, not including incentive compensation, equity, or benefits. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location, market conditions, job-related skillset, experience, qualifications, education, certifications, and/or training.

Schedule

The Solutions Engineer role typically requires a full-time schedule, with occasional travel to client locations throughout the region.
