Solutions Architect (SLG), State and Local Government - Southeast Region

About the role

This position must reside in Tallahassee, FL, or within reasonable commuting distance. Amazon Web Services is looking for a highly motivated Solutions Architect to help accelerate our growing State and Local Government business as part of the World Wide Public Sector practice. As a Solutions Architect within AWS, you will have the opportunity to help shape and deliver on a strategy to build broad use of Amazon's utility computing web services (e.g., AWS EC2, AWS S3, AWS RDS, and AWS CloudFront) directly with customers and our ecosystem of system integrators and solution providers.

Key responsibilities

• Own the technical engagement and ultimate success around specific implementation projects
• Define implementation architectures and respond to RFPs
• Develop deep expertise in AWS technologies as well as broad know-how around how applications and services are constructed using the AWS platform
• Serve as a subject matter expert on security as it relates to customer applications and services
• Provide exceptional technical design and thought leadership to customers while working with a world class sales and business development team
• Lead efforts to capture and share best-practice knowledge amongst the AWS solution architect community
• In partnership with the Sales team, formulate and execute a sales strategy to exceed revenue objectives through the adoption of AWS
• Ensure success in building and migrating applications, software and services on the AWS platform
• Educate customers on the value proposition of AWS, and participate in deep architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment in the cloud
• Conduct one-to-few and one-to-many training sessions to transfer knowledge to customers considering or already using AWS (i.e Dev Days or Immersion Days)
• Contribute to AWS customer-facing publications such as white papers
• Act as a technical liaison between customers, Service Teams and Support

Basic qualifications

• 2+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience
• 4+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience
• 5+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries experience

Preferred qualifications

• Experience working within software development or Internet-related industries
• Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud
• Experience working with AWS technologies from a dev/ops perspective
