Thompson Gray is seeking a highly motivated individual with a strong work ethic to support the U.S. Army in Huntsville, Alabama. This position is contingent upon funding approval and may require occasional travel.

About the Role

The Solutions Architect will collaborate with functional owners, process subject matter experts, end users, and analysts to build data analytics outputs, knowledge management, and digital processes/applications to aid in digital business transformation. The role involves using various platforms, tools, and enterprise IT & data systems to create a data analytics environment for all organizational levels, from local team members to executive leadership.

Responsibilities include the end-to-end process of gathering requirements, data source capture, data wrangling, data modeling, and developing customer-facing Power BI Reports with advanced visualizations. The Solutions Architect will also administer, maintain, and sustain a Power BI-based environment hosted by the Army.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and translate business/technical requirements into data analytics and visualization solutions.
  • Develop, model, and integrate data from multiple sources to create comprehensive analytics outputs.
  • Design and implement Power BI dashboards and reports following data visualization best practices.
  • Administer and maintain a Power BI-based environment hosted by the Army.
  • Create technical and user product documentation.
  • Provide architecture, configuration, and functional support for Microsoft Office 365 environment expansion (Power BI, PowerApps, Power Automate, SharePoint Online, PowerShell).
  • Participate in meetings and collaborate with staff at all levels to understand information needs.
  • Configure and manage relational databases.
  • Brief leaders with clear, concise summaries of complex technical data tailored to the audience.
  • Support business process reengineering initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Data Analytics, Data Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 7–10 years of related experience.
  • 3+ years of experience with Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, or similar software.
  • Proven experience in data modeling, dashboard design, and data visualization best practices.
  • Active Secret clearance (required).

Skills

  • Data modeling, data architecture, and data analytics.
  • Advanced data queries in SQL, Python, or DAX.
  • Experience with Palantir Foundry (preferred).
  • Knowledge of Agile Methodologies and JIRA.
  • Understanding of Army financial data and reporting tools (e.g., GFEBS, BOB-J, CCaR) is a plus.
  • Experience with Army financial management, standards, systems, processes, or data.

Schedule

  • Full-time on-site (5 days per week, 40 hours).
  • Telework may be authorized.
