About the role

The Solutions Architect/Portfolio Lead will lead the technical development and assist in growing the business in the portfolio area. This role is based in Westminster, Colorado and requires a passion for space exploration and development.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a technology roadmap for technologies in the portfolio area
  • Identify gaps in the technology portfolio and create strategies to address gaps
  • Understand the current technical state-of-the-art in the portfolio area
  • Engage in technical training and development to address knowledge gaps
  • Perform technical project work to maintain domain knowledge
  • Attend and present at conferences to maintain domain knowledge and coordinate with marketing to create content
  • Work with the Business Development team to identify and pursue opportunities to fund work relevant to the portfolio technology roadmap
  • Develop and maintain a knowledge base of relevant customers and competitors
  • Meet with customers/partners to assess value and determine needs
  • Assess the value of funded work versus new business investments and calculate return on investment
  • Work with the proposal team and planned project tech leads to architect high-level concepts for proposals
  • Review proposals to ensure alignment with the roadmap, state-of-the-art, and feasibility
  • Solicit and engage with IRAD efforts to mature technologies needed to close gaps in the roadmap
  • Coordinate with systems engineering and program management to document and preserve company knowledge
  • Attend kickoffs and major milestone meetings for projects and regularly sync with project leadership
  • Ensure work is non-duplicative across multiple programs
  • Identify quarterly and yearly portfolio goals that align with tech roadmaps and company objectives
  • Present quarterly updates to leadership on portfolio status including goals progress, technological progress, financials, and future outlook

Qualifications

  • College degree in Engineering or a related field, with emphasis on systems engineering or mission concept design, or deep knowledge of a specific mission critical subsystem engineering field
  • 8 to 12 years of experience in relevant fields, building breadth in spacecraft mission design concepts
  • Demonstrated ability to lead architecture trade studies and translate mission objectives into requirements and ConOps
