Solid Waste Director

About the role

The Solid Waste Director oversees the operation and maintenance of the city’s waste management system, ensuring efficient collection and disposal services are provided to the community.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the solid waste department including recycling programs and waste reduction initiatives.
• Develop and implement strategies to improve waste management practices and reduce environmental impact.
• Manage staff and contractors to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Collaborate with other city departments to integrate waste management into broader sustainability goals.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Public Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in solid waste management or related field.
• Proven leadership skills and ability to manage a team.
• Knowledge of environmental regulations and best practices in waste management.

Qualifications

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.

Skills

Pay

• $75,000 - $85,000 annually.
