Solar Safety Technician II

About the role

The Safety Technician II supports the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) team in developing, implementing, monitoring, and continuously improving Moss Solar’s EHS programs. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements on assigned projects.

Responsibilities

• Supports EHS functions on a project site
• Supports the maintenance and implementation of EHS programs, compliance plans, and initiatives on assigned site
• Supports and leads by influence and strategic partnership with project and construction teams on assigned site
• Keeps safety credentials current
• Performs other duties as assigned by management
• Evaluates environmental health and safety-related risks
• Applies knowledge of record-keeping principles and practices
• Works independently and collaboratively with attention to detail and organizational abilities

Requirements

• Associate’s or BS in Occupational Health and Safety (preferred) or 2-3 years of experience in a safety-related field
• Knowledge of OSHA/industrial safety compliance and DOT/DOL/EPA regulations as they relate to the power generation industry
• Professional certification/license (or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire): CHST/OHST, ASP, CSP
• Valid driver’s license with a driving record that meets Moss standards (required to drive company vehicles if/when assigned)
• Effective communication to coach and communicate safety protocols
• Ability to interact and communicate effectively at all levels and across diverse cultures
• Proficiency in standard office software programs, including spreadsheets, databases, and word processing
• Learning mindset, coachable, and open to feedback
• Attention to detail and reliability in daily tasks
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and trades on site

Physical Demands

This position requires frequent physical activity in both indoor and outdoor environments, including exposure to varying weather conditions. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds and may occasionally handle loads exceeding that amount with assistance. Exposure to moving mechanical parts, elevated work areas, loud noise levels, and extreme temperatures may occur.
