Solar Project Manager Intern (Summer 2027)

About the Role

ARCO/Murray is seeking a Solar Project Management Intern to join our Power Solutions team in Downers Grove, Illinois. The intern will assist with sales, project execution, and overall performance of alternative energy projects, with a key focus on solar project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Estimating: Describe project proposals and assign dollar values to projects.
• Scheduling: Create working timelines for subcontractors to ensure projects are completed on time.
• Design Meetings: Attend design meetings with owners, structural engineers, and architects to understand project requirements.
• Buyout: Send bid instructions, schedules, and drawings to subcontractors. Receive and evaluate proposals, then award subcontracts.
• Shop Drawing and Submittal Review: Review subcontractor drawings with the Project Manager and design team; communicate with subcontractors on upcoming work.
• Billing: Work with the Project Manager to manage subcontracts, change orders, pay requests, pay applications, and project cost status.
• Jobsite Visits: Visit jobsites with the Project Manager and collaborate with Project Superintendents to ensure smooth project execution.
• Weekly Training Sessions: Participate in training sessions covering building trades, engineering solutions, and business operations. Training is held virtually, in-person, at jobsites, and through self-guided modules.

Requirements

• Minimum GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0.
• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Engineering or a related field.
• Prior industry internship experience is a plus.
• Extracurricular involvement is a plus.
