Solar Project Manager
About the Role
We exist to make humanity more free. For most of human history, you farmed or you starved. Technology gave people more time for the things they wanted to do, instead of things they had to do. Powerful AI will be the biggest lever for human choice we've ever built - but only if models are aligned with what humanity actually wants.
We're singularly focused on delivering 10 to 100s of GWs of compute faster than anyone else, rethinking every layer of the stack. We acquire power, design and build data centers, and operate them - with teams spanning hardware and software. Speed and scale are our key differentiators.
How We Operate
We operate with extreme ownership, full autonomy, and a focus on velocity. We challenge every assumption and prioritize the best idea, regardless of ego or analogy thinking. We're driven by a love of the game and a desire to push the frontier of AI forward.
The Construction Team
The Construction Team is working on key problems such as delivering one of the largest data center buildouts of its kind, inventing new ways to build gigawatts, and productizing the data center to enable repeatable, modular builds.
Examples of key problems the team is working on include:
- Putting gigawatts in the ground faster than anyone has
- Throwing out traditional construction and inventing how gigawatts get built
- Productizing the data center so we can build it a thousand times
Role Scope
The role involves driving end-to-end delivery of utility-scale solar and BESS projects from development handoff through commercial operation, owning budget, schedule, scope, and risk across civil, electrical, substation, gen-tie, and interconnection workstreams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building and owning integrated project schedules across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning
- Owning project budgets, cash-flow forecasts, and change-order governance
- Managing the full contract lifecycle
- Driving mitigation on critical-path and long-lead risks
- Leading construction managers, field superintendents, and project engineers across concurrent solar sites
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who has led project management on utility-scale solar or solar-plus-storage projects from NTP through COD, delivered on budget, and can describe exactly where the schedule pressure came from and how they resolved it.
Key qualifications include:
- Understanding of civil, structural, electrical, BESS, substation, and gen-tie scopes
- Experience owning budgets at the project level and managing earned-value tracking, owner-controlled contingency, and change orders
- Ability to manage interconnection milestones as a critical path item and navigate CAISO, MISO, ERCOT, or PJM queue processes
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to reframed status updates for different stakeholders
- Experience building and scaling field-based project teams across multiple concurrent sites
Bonus qualifications include PMI-PMP or equivalent, BESS and substation construction experience, multi-state concurrent portfolio delivery, and lender reporting and project finance interface experience.
Benefits
We offer a competitive total compensation package, including salary and equity, as well as a range of benefits such as retirement or pension plan, health, dental, and vision insurance, and generous PTO policy.
Total compensation may also include equity in the form of stock options. We are committed to pay equity and transparency.
Pay
The compensation range for this role is $155K - $200K.
