Solar Electrical Technician - Wilson

Responsibilities

  • Safety First! Ensure all peers and subcontractors demonstrate safe work practices in accordance with OSHA, NFPA, state and local codes, and Strata Solar Services safety policies and procedures.
  • Develop a strong working knowledge of electrical theory to understand electrical design drawings and quickly identify and escalate electrical safety hazards.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled plant maintenance activities in the assigned region at the direction of your Regional Supervisor.
  • Use multimeter, low resistance Ohm-meter, PV Analyzer, IR thermometer, IR camera, and hand-held irradiance meter as well as a variety of hand tools in the performance of electrical maintenance work.
  • Troubleshoot & diagnose common Direct Current (“DC”) faults within the PV plant.
  • Create excellent, detailed documentation within our work ticketing software system.
  • Conduct basic networking, such as changing IP addresses on laptop to connect with equipment.
  • Provision replacement devices and upload/share photos via service tickets.
  • Complete and submit all assigned inspection and testing data as required.
  • Conduct acceptance inspections on newly assigned PV plants in the assigned region.
  • Pull data files, troubleshoot communications issues, and maneuver monitoring software using a PC or Tablet.
  • Operate in a professional workmanlike manner consistent with the organization’s policies, procedures and vision.

Qualifications

  • Minimum three (3) years experience working with energized AC or DC systems or other relevant experience.
  • Aptitude for learning and understanding operation of various testing equipment, tools and procedures utilized in the maintenance of PV power generation systems.
  • Ability to collaborate and coordinate well with peer Technicians and other personnel, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications to include but not limited to MS Word and Excel, as well as an ability to learn new computer programs without difficulty.
  • Ability to operate in a professional workmanlike manner consistent with the organization’s policies, procedures and vision.
