About the Role

Plan, lay-out, install, test and repair wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, motors, equipment and control systems in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes and industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Use appropriate hand and power tools to measure, cut, assemble and install electrical conduits; weld supports; install cable and duct banks; make terminations in accordance with required color codes and specifications; pull wire through conduit; connect wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment.
  • Install control and distribution apparatus, such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels; install grounding leads; splice wire by stripping insulation, twisting or soldering, and applying tape or terminal caps.
  • Work with high and low voltage systems; test and start up systems; test continuity of circuits to ensure electrical compatibility and safety using testing instruments (e.g., ohmmeter, oscilloscope).
  • Install all related items in accordance with applicable plans and specifications.
  • Participate in all safety-related processes and programs, including pre-job planning, hazard identification, and stop-work authority.
  • Engage with the work team to achieve zero injuries; report hazards, accidents, and near misses to supervision.
  • Follow lockout/tagout procedures, site-specific training, and established safety rules.
  • Use effective verbal and written communication skills; coordinate work with other crafts and co-workers.
  • Provide on-the-job training and mentoring to helpers and laborers.
  • Produce quality work meeting requirements of plans, specifications, and industry standards.
  • Read and understand plans and specifications, including one-line diagrams, cable/conduit schedules, ladder diagrams, P&IDs, and loop diagrams.
  • Visualize two-dimensional drawings in three dimensions; plan, lay-out, diagram, and install/repair wiring and control equipment.
  • Inspect helper’s work for compliance with contract plans, specifications, and industry standards; identify deficiencies and take corrective action.
  • Observe functioning of installed equipment to determine hazards or need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
  • Examine field conditions, identify problems, inaccuracies, and cost-saving measures; report issues to supervision.
  • Comply with Company Code of Conduct and jobsite policies.
  • Work in other crafts at levels appropriate to training and skills as requested by project supervision.
  • Perform all other job-related duties as requested by supervisor.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience working as an industrial electrician or a combination of experience and training.
  • A strong working knowledge of the electrical craft and the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • If applicable, possess all necessary licenses or certifications for the jurisdiction in which the work is performed.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Stand, kneel, bend, stoop, and move in confined, cluttered, or uneven areas.
  • Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with job duties; repetitive movement.
  • Climb and maintain balance on steel frameworks, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
  • Work up to a 12-hour shift in varying temperature extremes and outdoor conditions (e.g., dust, wind, snow, rain).
  • Work in cramped workspaces, awkward positions, and extreme temperatures (below 32°F or above 90°F).
  • Work in bright or inadequate lighting and exposure to distracting or uncomfortable noise levels.
  • Work around hazardous equipment; this position is considered safety-sensitive.
