Soils Lab Technician

This position is responsible for the processing and testing of soil, asphalt and concrete materials using company and client specific guidelines.Essential Functions of the PositionLog in material samples.Prepare samples for processing which includes weighing and drying each one.Perform tests using appropriate ASTM methods.Enter test data manually onto the proper forms.Maintain a clean working environment.Perform general maintenance on lab equipment.Assist Drilling and Construction Material Testing Departments as required by Org Supervisor.Ensure quality in every step of the testing process.Maintain a safe working environment.Ensures on time and regular attendance.Educational RequirementsHigh school degree or equivalent.Physical RequirementsAbility to lift 50 lbs.Climb stairs on a regular basis.Stand in one place for 1 to 2 hours at a time.Stoop and bend to perform equipment maintenance using tools.Ability to wear appropriate PPE for hazardous materials.Wear steel toe shoes as needed.Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.Other RequirementsOther duties as required.Minimum RequirementsHigh school degree or equivalent.General maintenance skills.Basic math skills.Ability to learn and follow instructions.About Thompson EngineeringFounded in 1953, Thompson Engineering provides quality assurance and professional services for construction projects supporting industrial, infrastructure, and community development.
