Soho Works Receptionist - 10 Jay Street (Dumbo)
About the role
As a Receptionist at Soho Works, you will welcome, direct, and sign in all members and guests to the property. You will maintain the reception desk, coffee station, and handle basic computer/AV duties, as well as perform Guest List responsibilities. A successful Receptionist is knowledgeable about all aspects of the property and neighborhood, fostering a "home away from home" feeling. We seek a people person with excellent professional phone etiquette and a flair for making members and guests feel welcome.
Responsibilities
- Ensure every member is welcomed by name (if local) and guests are greeted hospitably with a complete overview of site offerings and additional resources.
- Answer high-volume phone lines and conduct office services including courier bookings, binding, bulk printing, laminating, and postage (receiving/sending); familiarity with all costs/procedures.
- Understand best practices when answering questions about catering menus, hours of operation, and amenity availability/pricing.
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe work environment, including the reception desk, coffee/barista station, coat check, AV, and IT closet.
- Perform Guest List duties and support, redirect, and problem-solve in real-time to address guest concerns and set action items.
- Build relationships with members and guests, communicating any red flags or positive feedback to management.
- Influence a fun and positive atmosphere by being approachable, professional, and overseeing receptionist assignments per shift. Delegate tasks and ensure completion.
- Handle event and meeting room bookings for users when requested.
- Be fully trained in all operational software.
- Assist with food set-up for breakfast, lunch, events, etc., as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2+ years’ experience in a similar role.
- Experience answering high-volume phone lines and handling inquiries professionally and timely.
- Knowledge of or experience with similar software (e.g., OpenTable, Salesforce) and basic AV/IT experience.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to resolve conflicts.
- Detail-oriented, articulate, and able to multi-task in a high-volume, demanding work environment.
- Strong communication skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Flexible schedule with availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to seize, grasp, turn, and hold objects with hands.
- Ability to work on your feet for at least 8 hours.
- Fast-paced movements required to navigate different parts of the property.
- Ability to move, pull, carry, or lift at least 40 pounds.
- Occasionally kneel, bend, crouch, and climb as required.

Pay
In accordance with New York law, the salary range for this role if filled within New York is $23—$23 USD. The range for other geographies may vary based on market differences. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
