About the role
CGI Federal has an exciting opportunity for Software/Web Developers within our Intel sector advancing the national security mission through cutting-edge technology. You must have a passion for keeping pace with rapidly evolving technology advancements and leveraging your knowledge on a highly collaborative team to deliver state-of-the-art capabilities. This position is located in our Arlington office; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable.
Responsibilities
Entry Level
- Write clean, maintainable code for smaller features, website updates, or bug fixes based on established guidelines.
- Test applications for usability and performance, ensuring new code does not break existing features.
- Troubleshoot basic errors and report findings to senior developers.
- Help maintain and update technical documentation, style guides, and project procedures.
- Participate in daily team meetings (stand-ups), code reviews, and pair programming to accelerate technical growth.
Junior Level
- Write clean, testable, and efficient code for both front-end (UI) and back-end (databases) systems.
- Analyze production support issues, implement bug fixes, and update existing website layouts.
- Perform unit, regression, and user-acceptance testing to ensure application stability across browsers and devices.
- Partner with visual designers to implement design intent and assist senior developers on larger architectural projects.
- Create and maintain technical documentation for the features and tools being built.
Mid-Level
- Analyze business and functional requirements to design and implement robust, secure, and scalable web and mobile application features.
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code.
- Utilize, develop, and integrate RESTful APIs and third-party SDKs to connect front-end interfaces with back-end databases and cloud services.
- Write and execute comprehensive unit, integration, and user-acceptance (UAT) tests to prevent code regressions and ensure intended performance.
- Analyze complex software problems, resolve production support issues, and provide innovative solutions.
- Collaborate with product managers, UI/UX designers, and QA teams. Mentor junior developers, assist with code reviews, and provide time-complexity estimates for project tasks.
Senior Level
- Design and operate resilient back-end and front-end architectures with long-term maintainability, scalability, and security as primary goals.
- Lead structural improvements and define coding, deployment, and performance review standards for the engineering team.
- Provide hands-on guidance to Level 1 and Level 2 developers, fostering a culture of collaborative problem-solving, code quality, and peer review.
- Translate complex business/functional requirements into actionable technical strategies while communicating effectively with stakeholders.
- Perform routine architectural audits to optimize web systems for maximum speed, throughput, and reliability.
- Oversee the integration of complex data pipelines, third-party libraries, and back-end services with user-facing elements.
- Exercise problem-solving leadership during complex failure situations, bugs, or downtime.
SME Level
- Design scalable, microservices-based, and fault-tolerant web architectures capable of handling high-volume traffic.
- Establish design systems and UI standards for products across multiple organizational units.
- Ensure interoperability by defining standard interfaces and protocols between proprietary and third-party systems.
- Build out back-end infrastructure, database schemas, and robust, secure APIs.
- Write clean, maintainable, testable, and highly efficient code across the full stack.
- Oversee and conduct rigorous code reviews to enforce architectural integrity, performance, and security.
- Troubleshoot and resolve highly complex, multifaceted software problems.
- Integrate AI-assisted workflows into the development lifecycle for rapid prototyping and validation.
- Mentor junior and mid-level developers, ensuring knowledge transfer and adherence to development best practices.
- Provide budget and time-scope estimates to management for the implementation of new systems.
- Collaborate extensively with UX designers, Product Managers (PMs), systems analysts, and stakeholders.
- Prepare and deliver project status reports and presentations to executive leadership.
- Enforce advanced application security requirements, including vulnerability scanning, data encryption, and secure authentication (e.g., OAuth 2.0, JWT).
- Evaluate eTask requirements to provide feedback on technical limitations and risks.
- Create comprehensive test plans, including unit, regression, and user-acceptance testing to guarantee platform stability.
Requirements
All roles require an active TS/SCI with Poly.
Entry Level
- Education: High School Diploma/GED with 4 years of relevant experience, Associate’s Degree with 2 years of relevant experience, or Bachelor’s Degree with 0 years of relevant experience.
- Ability to clearly explain basic tech concepts to non-technical staff and business needs to developers.
- Basic understanding of fundamental web and programming languages (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, or Java).
- Familiarity with version control systems (like Git and GitHub).
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive eagerness to learn.
Junior Level
- Education: High School Diploma/GED with 6 years of relevant experience, Associate’s Degree with 4 years of relevant experience, Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years of relevant experience, or Master’s Degree with 0 years of relevant experience.
- Front-End Skills: Foundational knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
- Back-End Basics: Familiarity with server-side languages or frameworks like Node.js, PHP, Ruby on Rails, or Python.
- Database Tools: Basic understanding of SQL databases and RESTful API integrations.
- Version Control: Experience using source code management tools like Git and GitHub.
Mid-Level
- Education: High School Diploma/GED with 8 years of relevant experience, Associate’s Degree with 6 years of relevant experience, Bachelor’s Degree with 4 years of relevant experience, Master’s Degree with 2 years of relevant experience, or PhD with 0 years of relevant experience.
- Technical Stack: Proficiency in front-end technologies (e.g., HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, React, Vue.js, or Angular) and back-end environments (e.g., Node.js, PHP, Python, or Ruby).
- Database Management: Experience designing and optimizing relational (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and non-relational (e.g., MongoDB) database schemas.
- Tooling & Environments: Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git), continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, and containerization tools (e.g., Docker).
Senior Level
- Education: High School Diploma/GED with 10 years of relevant experience, Associate’s Degree with 8 years of relevant experience, Bachelor’s Degree with 6 years of relevant experience, Master’s Degree with 4 years of relevant experience, or PhD with 2 years of relevant experience.
- Advanced Front-End: Mastery of modern frameworks (e.g., React, Next.js, Angular), TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, HTML5, and CSS3.
- Robust Back-End & Databases: Deep expertise in Python, Node.js, or PHP, combined with solid relational/non-relational database design (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
- DevOps & Cloud Ecosystems: Demonstrated ability with Cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure), modern deployment strategies (Vercel, Docker, CI/CD pipelines), and version control (Git).
- Architecture Design: Proven history of designing microservices, secure REST/GraphQL APIs, and robust data protection implementations.
SME Level
- Education: High School Diploma/GED with 12 years of relevant experience, Associate’s Degree with 10 years of relevant experience, Bachelor’s Degree with 8 years of relevant experience, Master’s Degree with 6 years of relevant experience, or PhD with 4 years of relevant experience.
- Front-End Mastery: Advanced proficiency in modern JS/TS frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue), HTML5, and CSS3.
- Back-End Expertise: Strong command of server-side languages (Node.js, Python, Java, or C++) and proficiency in relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB).
- System Integration: Deep experience designing, building, and consuming RESTful services and GraphQL APIs.
- DevOps & Tools: Mastery of CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), source control (Git), and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Soft Skills: Excellent technical communication, risk management, and the ability to organize complex data into intuitive sitemaps and architectures.
Pay
A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $89,600.00 - $204,000.00.
