Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the automation of requirements management, change management, requirements gathering/tracking, and configuration management are critical to all projects needs throughout the project’s lifecycle.
  • The Tools Engineer shall work with teams to identify, engineer, and implement the most optimal automation solution that follows approved processes for a given project or infrastructure.
  • Tools Engineers shall work with all other infrastructure support teams as other support teams are identified as part of a solution to identify, engineer and implement solutions that integrate with the automation/infrastructure/productivity tools.
  • Participate in the research, analysis and recommendation of software productivity tools to support Key Management development efforts.
  • Develop and maintain software productivity tools installation, integration, development and configuration plans.
  • Develop, tailor and maintain associated technical documentation for software productivity tools.
  • Perform regular backup of software productivity tools databases, datasets and files.
  • Monitor, track, and manage software productivity tools, licenses, and associated media.
  • Install, integrate, develop, customize and configure software productivity tools (e.g., IBM/Rational Tools, HP Service Manager) in support of Key Management efforts.
  • Provide consulting, training and hands-on experience to project personnel to include Key Management personnel in the use of software tools.
  • Integrate software productivity tools to implement existing and proposed project processes in use.

Qualifications

  • (U) Ten (10) years combined experience as a software engineer, system engineer, system administrator or configuration management engineer.
  • Six (6) years’ experience as a tools engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type and complexity is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business discipline from an accredited institution is required.
  • Four (4) years of additional experience as a software engineer, system engineer, system administrator, or configuration management experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
  • Labor Category must be in compliance with certification requirements detailed in DoD8570-M, IAT level 1.
