Software Systems Engineer II

About The Role

The Software Engineer II role involves designing, developing, and testing software applications for space systems and technologies. This mid-level position requires a strong understanding of programming languages and software development principles, as well as the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• writing clean, maintainable code
• collaborating with team members to understand project requirements
• contributing to the development of innovative software solutions
• designing, developing, and testing software applications for space systems and technologies
• managing code changes using version control systems such as Git
• participating in code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to development standards
• troubleshooting and resolving software-related issues in a timely manner
• documenting software designs, configurations, processes, and procedures for future reference

Requirements

• Requires bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree).
• Typically, 2+ years of related experience.
• Strong understanding of at least one programming language, and general knowledge of others.
• Strong understanding of software development principles.
• Able to design, code, test, and debug complex software applications.
• Experience with different software development methodologies such as Agile and Scrum/Kanban.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

• The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with requirements management and system modelling tools, such as DOORS, Rhapsody, NoMagic, MATLAB.
• Knowledge of industry standard mechanical design principles, to include, but not limited to requirements management, Model Based System Engineering (MBSE).
• Experience or certification in INCOSE standards.
• Experience developing software interface control documents.
• Experience developing and managing requirements specs.
• Decomposition of requirements and design experience.
• Experience or certification in INCOSE standards.
• Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry.
• Exposure to baseline definition and maturation in a complex development setting, including the use of high impact trade studies and other measures.
• Understanding of establishing and tracking key Technical Performance Measurements (TPM).

Pay

Pay Range: $105,534.00 - $145,109.25
