General Dynamics Mission Systems engineers mission-critical systems that help keep people safe. As a Software Systems Engineer, you’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop complex software systems supporting national defense and intelligence services.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering or a related Science, Engineering, Technology, or Mathematics field
- 2+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree and 6 months of job-related experience
- Ability to obtain a Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance (U.S. citizenship required)
Responsibilities
- Provide architectural recommendations and design inputs for complex software systems
- Participate in and/or lead all phases of software system development, including requirements analysis, system architecture definition, trade studies, and lifecycle leadership
- Develop system requirements and define allocations to lower levels (elements and components)
- Perform functional and performance analysis, system design, and interface definition studies
- Support technical engineering product generation using appropriate standards, processes, and tools
- Develop software architecture artifacts to communicate solutions to stakeholders
- Support new business pursuits through briefings, demonstrations, and proposal development
- Communicate clearly with customers, users, subcontractors, and cross-functional teams to define and meet project goals
- Coordinate across design, development, test, project leadership, and program management teams
- Identify and mitigate risks, define trade spaces, and adapt to changing requirements
- Apply systems thinking to software, processes, people, and organizations
- Participate in and/or lead reviews of software systems, providing design input based on experience
- Mentor and guide less experienced engineers
Other beneficial experience includes Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), space domain expertise, cloud environments (AWS, Azure, RHOSP, VIO), Platform as a Service (PaaS) technologies, cloud automation tooling (Ansible, Terraform), cybersecurity practices, multi-level security, and DevOps concepts.

Pay
Target salary range: USD $100,219.00/Yr. - USD $111,180.00/Yr.
Schedule
On-site work in Pittsburgh, PA, with a hybrid/flex work schedule permitted (not 100% remote).
