Software & System Test Engineer

About the role

The Software & System Test Engineer is responsible for delivering engineering assignments related to electrical and electronics systems in vehicles. They design ECU specifications, troubleshoot system issues, and perform testing to ensure hardware and software performance, quality, and reliability. Working closely with technical leadership, they develop and verify system functionalities, manage documentation, and coordinate with suppliers. This role involves project management, problem-solving, and proactive communication to prevent cascading impacts caused by system changes. The engineer also ensures cybersecurity measures are integrated, maintains technical reports, and supports continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Break down project concepts and plan ECU development with guidance.
• Design electrical hardware and software specifications, conduct design reviews.
• Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis in prototype or production vehicles.
• Test and verify ECU hardware/software to ensure compliance and performance.
• Identify process improvements and document development activities.
• Coordinate requirements and schedules with suppliers.

Qualifications

• A BSEE or BSME degree or equivalent experience.
• 0‑2 years of related experience.

Skills

• Effective communication, relationship management, and collaboration skills.
• Proficiency in tools like PowerPoint, Excel, MS Project, CANalyzer.
• Familiarity with vehicle systems.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and multitasking abilities, with attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and adapt to new environments.

Schedule

• Flexible hours including occasional overtime.
• Occasional travel to labs or supplier sites.
• Work split between on‑site (≈80%) and remote (≈20%).

Requirements

• Physical ability to lift 20 lb., kneel, bend, sit, and stand as needed.
