About the role

The Software Sound Engineer at FlightSafety International is responsible for developing sound/software for simulator systems. This role involves creating mixed reality software solutions to provide a realistic training environment that combines both a physical and virtual world. Tasks include working closely with and integrating third-party headsets and other VR/AR/MR hardware, expanding training device feature sets, and contributing to all facets of software development.

Responsibilities

  • Create mixed reality software solutions to provide a realistic training environment that combines both a physical and virtual world.
  • Work closely with and integrate 3rd party headsets and other VR/AR/MR hardware and expand our training device feature sets and product lines.
  • Perform 1/3 octave and narrow-band analysis of aircraft recordings for implementation in the software applications.
  • Create and maintain software and hardware documentation.
  • Create and maintain 1/3 octave tests and perform tuning of the sound simulation to tolerances required by FAA/JAA.
  • Provide on-site support of the simulator installation and certification efforts with virtual/augmented/mixed reality projects or technologies.
  • Algorithm development and object-oriented design
  • Narrow band and 3rd octave signal analysis
  • Embedded systems programming
  • Audio systems experience
  • Real-time audio processing
  • Tuning and integration
  • Audio DSP
  • Familiar with Audio Science input/output products or equivalent products
  • AudioScience 2900
  • Dante Audio Processor

Requirements

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or other applicable technical field; and two years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum Experience: 2+ years of related experience in software engineering preferred.
