Software Sound Engineer
About the role
The Software Sound Engineer at FlightSafety International is responsible for developing sound/software for simulator systems. This role involves creating mixed reality software solutions to provide a realistic training environment that combines both a physical and virtual world. Tasks include working closely with and integrating third-party headsets and other VR/AR/MR hardware, expanding training device feature sets, and contributing to all facets of software development.
Responsibilities
- Create mixed reality software solutions to provide a realistic training environment that combines both a physical and virtual world.
- Work closely with and integrate 3rd party headsets and other VR/AR/MR hardware and expand our training device feature sets and product lines.
- Perform 1/3 octave and narrow-band analysis of aircraft recordings for implementation in the software applications.
- Create and maintain software and hardware documentation.
- Create and maintain 1/3 octave tests and perform tuning of the sound simulation to tolerances required by FAA/JAA.
- Provide on-site support of the simulator installation and certification efforts with virtual/augmented/mixed reality projects or technologies.
- Algorithm development and object-oriented design
- Narrow band and 3rd octave signal analysis
- Embedded systems programming
- Audio systems experience
- Real-time audio processing

- Familiar with Audio Science input/output products or equivalent products

Requirements
- Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or other applicable technical field; and two years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum Experience: 2+ years of related experience in software engineering preferred.
