Software Quality Engineer II

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret requirements/user stories and design documents to understand the application(s) or areas assigned to derive automated test scope & strategy for functional and API verification scripts, including determination and creation of test data sets.
• Participate in cross-functional teams / multi-site meetings and initiatives, ensuring interdepartmental integration of the automation function for software test planning.
• Contribute to project discussion and provide input on feasibility of functionality and testability of ideas and requirements.
• Coordinate testing across multiple environments to ensure streamlined automated testing, minimize redundancy, and reduce risk of erroneous defects.
• Assist DevOps with continuous integration.
• Write complex functional scripts from the analysis of requirements and design documents.
• Write and execute simple to highly complex SQL statements.
• Perform automated test execution for functional verification, system integration, and backend validation.
• Create and present scripts that meet project goals and department strategies.
• Recommend automation improvements as needed.
• Provide automated testing baseline and level of effort (LOE) estimates for complex projects and changes, as determined by project needs.
• Break down LOE and allocate to testing tasks as input to the project plan.
• Maintain required automated test documentation and reporting.
• Collaborate with development and all project team members in a productive way.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Math; Master’s Degree preferred; equivalent work experience considered.
• At least 2 years of experience as a Software Quality Engineer.
• Experience with QA tools (preferably TestRail) and collaboration tools such as JIRA and/or Confluence.
• Expert knowledge of quality assurance methodologies and automated testing tools (e.g., Playwright, Selenium, Jenkins).
• Experience with programming/coding in C, C++, Java, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience with automated frameworks and metrics.
• Experience in data verification and reports testing (e.g., Jasper, Tableau).
• Experience in DevOps and Test-Driven Development.
• Experience testing in a Cloud environment, preferably AWS.
• Experience in functional automated testing.
• Familiarity with Windows, UNIX, and/or Linux environments.
• Experience with databases/SQL.
• Thrives in a fast-paced web application development environment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to provide process improvements.
• Certification in agile development methodology preferred.
• Strong sense of ownership and drive to achieve high results.
• Excellent communication skills for both client and team interaction.
