Software Project Manager III

About the role

The Software Project Manager III supports and manages material handling automation projects involving software through the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). This role involves planning, executing, and completing projects, as well as managing project finances, reporting, and ensuring successful client transitions.

Responsibilities

• Supports and manages material handling automation projects involving software through the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
• Plays a key role in defining, designing, developing, and implementing software solutions.
• Manages project financials, including budget and forecasting, change requests, and monthly project reports.
• Coordinates and plans project tasks, including hardware and network requirements, testing lifecycles, and Go Live support activities.
• Ensures smooth client transitions from implementation to go-live.
• Collaborates with project teams and clients to define, write, and execute Business Requirement Documents (BRDs) and UML diagrams.
• Manages project schedules and records project deliverables, risks, and issues.
• Communicates project status to both clients and internal teams.
• Assists with building department reports related to financials, status, and leading team meetings.
• Assists with project management tools and processes to facilitate project deliverables.
• Manages project risks and raises issues effectively.
• Ensures adherence to project timelines and quality standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 4-7 years of related experience in the material handling industry, warehouse distribution, and warehouse automation.
• Knowledge of materials handling, WMS, WCS, WES, order fulfillment, distribution center operations, and supply chain logistics.
• Experience in project management of automation projects involving machines, robotics, controls, and software.
• Understanding of automated storage and retrieval systems, conveyor systems, and communication with the PLC layer.
• Knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC): Define, Design, Development, QA, Implementation, UAT, Training, Turnover to Support.
• Experience with Agile or Waterfall Methodology.
• Proficiency in project management tools such as Jira or Work Items.
• Experience with Team Foundation Server and SharePoint version control system.
• Strong organizational and collaborative skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Self-motivation and ability to handle multiple project assignments.
• Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities.
• Ability to work weekends and evenings as required.
• Technical proficiency with tools required to perform at a high level.
• Proven success in a customer-facing role.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of complex warehousing functions including receiving, order fulfillment, shipping, picking, replenishment, buffering, order management, and inventory.
• Experience with database, server, and network requirements that support warehouse functions.
• Ability to understand and explain database, server, and network requirements.
• Experience with project management tools and methodologies.
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Project.
