About the role
A rapidly growing robotics and warehouse automation company in the Greater Boston area is hiring a full-time Software Engineering Manager, Motion Planning.
Responsibilities
- Lead and scale a team developing advanced motion planning software for industrial robotic systems.
- Combine technical leadership, people management, and robotics software development, focusing on motion planning, robotic manipulation, controls algorithms, simulation, and production deployment.
- Work closely with engineering leadership and product teams to bring innovative algorithms from concept to deployment, ensuring robots operate safely, efficiently, and reliably at scale.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in robotics software development.
- 2+ years of experience managing or leading engineering teams.
- Strong proficiency in C++ and Python.
- Experience with ROS or other robotics software frameworks.
- Experience mentoring engineers through code reviews, coaching, and technical leadership.
- Strong understanding of robotics software development lifecycle and best practices.
- Experience collaborating across product, software, and hardware teams.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Experience troubleshooting complex robotic systems and software issues.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of motion planning algorithms such as RRT, trajectory optimization, and model predictive control (MPC).
- Experience with robotic manipulators and autonomous mobile robots (AMRs).
- Familiarity with simulation platforms such as Gazebo, Isaac Sim, or similar tools.
- Experience deploying robotics software into production environments.
- Strong understanding of controls systems and robotic autonomy architectures.
- Experience working in warehouse automation, logistics, or industrial robotics environments.
- Passion for staying current with emerging robotics research and technologies.
- Experience scaling engineering teams in high-growth environments.
