About the role

A rapidly growing robotics and warehouse automation company in the Greater Boston area is hiring a full-time Software Engineering Manager, Motion Planning.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and scale a team developing advanced motion planning software for industrial robotic systems.
  • Combine technical leadership, people management, and robotics software development, focusing on motion planning, robotic manipulation, controls algorithms, simulation, and production deployment.
  • Work closely with engineering leadership and product teams to bring innovative algorithms from concept to deployment, ensuring robots operate safely, efficiently, and reliably at scale.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in robotics software development.
  • 2+ years of experience managing or leading engineering teams.
  • Strong proficiency in C++ and Python.
  • Experience with ROS or other robotics software frameworks.
  • Experience mentoring engineers through code reviews, coaching, and technical leadership.
  • Strong understanding of robotics software development lifecycle and best practices.
  • Experience collaborating across product, software, and hardware teams.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex robotic systems and software issues.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of motion planning algorithms such as RRT, trajectory optimization, and model predictive control (MPC).
  • Experience with robotic manipulators and autonomous mobile robots (AMRs).
  • Familiarity with simulation platforms such as Gazebo, Isaac Sim, or similar tools.
  • Experience deploying robotics software into production environments.
  • Strong understanding of controls systems and robotic autonomy architectures.
  • Experience working in warehouse automation, logistics, or industrial robotics environments.
  • Passion for staying current with emerging robotics research and technologies.
  • Experience scaling engineering teams in high-growth environments.
