About the role
Mercury offers a paid, full‑time remote spring internship (12‑16 weeks, January‑May) for Engineering Interns who will receive mentorship from experienced engineers, write TypeScript and/or Haskell code, and contribute to a product that serves over 300,000 businesses. Interns join a team aligned with their goals and interests and, during the interview process, can discuss the various team openings. A demo of the product is available at demo.mercury.com. Applications close on September 25th, 2026.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with data analysts to spec and build features that draw new customers to the product.
- Provide a backend to mobile and web frontends (e.g., search transactions, send wire transfers).
- Build admin tools to increase support‑team efficiency (e.g., identify fraudulent customers, manage accounts).
- Integrate with third‑party APIs (e.g., send checks, validate SWIFT codes).
- Work on a beautiful app with high UI standards; explore the onboarding experience or read the blog post about the date picker.
- Push the limits of TypeScript using advanced static typing to prevent errors.
- Work in an established 650K‑line TypeScript codebase, leveraging built abstractions and components while contributing new features (e.g., optimizing combobox scrolling, building whole pages).
- Exercise ownership over the product by collaborating with designers and contributing ideas to improve it.
- Full‑stack interns will combine frontend and backend work as described above.
Requirements
- Interest in continually honing your craft.
