Software Engineering Intern

About the Role

Tenaska is hiring a year-round Software Engineering Intern to gain hands-on experience creating, enhancing, and maintaining critical applications that impact our company. This opportunity has the potential to transition into a full-time Software Developer position.

Responsibilities

• Learn from and work directly alongside experienced developers and analysts to maintain and enhance mission-critical systems
• Enhance your skills in an Agile and Kanban development environment
• Integrate your best ideas into developing rich, interactive software solutions for both Web and Desktop
• Demonstrate your attention to detail by providing quality control during the software development lifecycle
• Other duties as assigned
• Reliable, dependable, and predictable attendance is required

Requirements

• Enrolled in an accredited university seeking a BS or MS degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

• Understands OOP principles and application/database operations
• Good knowledge of programming concepts (conditions, looping, etc.)
• Some experience in developing Web and Windows-based desktop applications in multiple environments
• Strict adherence to best practices/standards
• Good documentation habits
• Self-motivated, team player
• Excellent oral and written skills
• Minimum GPA of 3.0

Schedule

Minimum 20 hours/week during the school year; up to 40 hours/week in the summer.

Location

Onsite in Omaha, Nebraska.
