Software Engineer (UI/UX)

About the role

Strategic Technology Consulting (STC), an Arcfield Company, is seeking a UI/UX Software Engineer to design and develop intuitive, mission-focused user interfaces for advanced tactical edge systems. This role will focus on translating complex PNT, NAVWAR, RF, and system-health data into clear, actionable visualizations that operators can understand quickly in high-pressure environments.

Responsibilities

• Visualize the Tactical Edge: Design and develop the user interfaces that display NAVWAR situational awareness, PNT health, and system status directly to expeditionary operators.
• Build for Portability: Architect a modern, decoupled UI framework (e.g., React/Typescript, Qt/QML, or Android/ATAK plugins) that can be easily ported across various military hardware hosts, ranging from low-power tablets to integrated platform displays.
• Ingest Live Data Firehoses: Write the frontend software that efficiently consumes high-rate, asynchronous data streams.
• Modernize Military Standards: Implement DOD interface and symbology standards (like MIL-STD-2525) while advocating for and executing a modern, consumer-grade user experience.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field (BS 8-10 years, MS 6-8 years, PhD 3-5 years of experience).
• Experience in UI/UX software development, with a strong portfolio of building responsive, data-heavy applications.
• Expertise in modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React, Vue, TypeScript) or cross-platform embedded UI tools (e.g., modern Qt/C++).
• Demonstrated experience handling live, high-frequency data streams within a UI.
• Deep passion for user-centric design, specifically minimizing cognitive load for users in high-stress, operational environments.
• Familiarity with military UI/UX standards, including MIL-STD-2525 symbology.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance.

Pay

Projected compensation range: $101,657.48 – $200,020.88.
