Software Engineer Technical Lead

Job seekers upload a resume once, and PPLIED automatically matches and applies to relevant roles, enabling direct communication when recruiters show interest. About the role
This is a full-time hybrid role based in San Jose, CA, with flexibility for some work from home. The Software Engineer Technical Lead oversees the design, development, and maintenance of back-end services and core platform features that power PPLIED’s matching and automation capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Lead a small engineering team, set technical direction, conduct code reviews, and ensure high-quality, scalable, and secure software solutions.
- Collaborate closely with product, design, and data teams to translate business requirements into robust technical architectures.
- Implement best practices for coding, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
- Mentor engineers, improve development processes, and contribute hands-on code to critical components of the system.
Requirements
- Strong foundation in Computer Science, including data structures, algorithms, and software architecture principles.
- Hands-on experience in Software Development and Programming, with proficiency in at least one modern language (e.g., Java, C#, Python, Go, or Node.js).
- Practical expertise in Back-End Web Development, including APIs, microservices, databases, and performance optimization.
- Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts and ability to apply them to maintainable, modular codebases.
- Previous experience leading or mentoring engineering teams, setting technical direction, and owning end-to-end delivery of features.
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure), CI/CD pipelines, and modern development workflows.
- Knowledge of security, reliability, and scalability best practices in distributed systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders in a hybrid work environment.
