Software Engineer Technical Lead

PPLIED is a hands-free hiring platform designed to serve both recruiters and job seekers by automating key steps in the hiring process. Recruiters post a role once and receive a daily shortlist of top-matched candidates without using job boards, manual searching, or paying fees. Job seekers upload a resume once and are automatically matched and applied to real roles, removing the need for applications or cover letters. When there is mutual interest, the platform connects recruiters and candidates directly through integrated messaging. PPLIED focuses on making hiring faster, more efficient, and accessible, and is free to use for all parties.

About the role

This full-time hybrid role is based in Seattle, WA, with the flexibility to work from home part of the week. The Software Engineer Technical Lead will guide the design, development, and delivery of core platform features that power PPLIED’s candidate matching and recruiter workflows.

Responsibilities

• Lead backend architecture decisions, write and review production-quality code, and ensure system reliability, performance, and security.
• Mentor engineers and drive best practices in software development.
• Coordinate with product and design teams to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.
• Contribute to roadmap planning and improve development processes.
• Foster a collaborative engineering culture.

Requirements

• Strong foundation in Computer Science, including data structures, algorithms, and system design.
• Proficiency in software development and programming, with experience delivering production-ready applications.
• Hands-on expertise in back-end web development, including APIs, databases, and cloud-based services.
• Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and their application in modern codebases.
• Previous experience in a technical leadership role, such as leading projects or mentoring engineering teams.
• Familiarity with modern development tools, CI/CD pipelines, version control (e.g., Git), and testing practices.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally in a hybrid environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice-to-have

• Experience with scalable, distributed systems, cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure), and security best practices.
