About Loop
Loop is industrializing services through AI, focusing on the global supply chain. We build an AI-native platform that transforms fragmented, unstructured data into a trusted foundation for automation, financial clarity, and decision intelligence at scale. We serve >20% of the Fortune 100, manage over $30B in supply chain spend, and help clients save hundreds of millions annually. We recently raised $95M in Series C funding and are backed by leading investors.
Loop's team includes experts from companies like Uber, Google, Microsoft, Meta, Amazon, Flexport, C3 AI, VMware, Box, UPS, and C.H. Robinson. We are seeking builders to shape the future of Loop.
About You
You will work closely with the codebase to address scalability and performance issues, collaborating with product engineering teams to set architectural direction. Your responsibilities include setting observability standards, identifying and eliminating bottlenecks, and anticipating future scaling challenges.
Responsibilities
- Set the architectural direction for scale and partner with product engineering teams to achieve it.
- A significant portion of your role involves reviewing designs with a focus on scalability and raising the engineering bar.
- Own observability for the systems carrying the most load.
- Improve and expand performance monitoring to catch bottlenecks before they become incidents.
- Find and eliminate bottlenecks slowing the platform down today, tackling the hardest performance problems and production incidents directly.
- Shape the Loop DNA and define how the company grows by anticipating and planning for future scaling limits.
- Lead large-scale infrastructure and architecture migrations that incremental tuning cannot solve.
Qualifications
- Work in the SF office 4+ days a week.
- Three or more years of software engineering experience, with meaningful time spent on backend, platform, or infrastructure systems in production.
- Track record of performance and scaling work on production systems, explaining what broke, how you found it, and what you changed.
- Deep expertise in at least one of PostgreSQL, Node.js performance, or cloud infrastructure such as AWS, with working familiarity across the other two.
- Strong written communication and the ability to influence architecture decisions on teams you do not own.
- Experience leading a large-scale architecture migration, or with high-throughput data or workflow systems, is a plus alongside depth in one of the areas above.
