Software Engineer - Rust
This position is based in our Reston, VA office and offers a hybrid work schedule.
About the role
Verisign’s “ATLAS” platform implementation team is a high-performing, agile team that builds horizontally scalable, high-performance, and highly available systems. As part of the team, you will design and implement new capabilities for this platform, deploy using CI/CD principles, and work with software that fundamentally enables the internet to operate at scale.

Requirements
- Solid understanding of writing software in a system-level programming language (C, C++, Rust)
- Proven foundation in Computer Science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, operating systems, object-oriented design)
- Understanding of CI/CD concepts and tools (e.g., Jenkins, Groovy, GitHub)
- Experience with or a strong willingness to learn infrastructure automation and platform engineering technologies such as Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, and OpenStack
- Proficiency with Linux
- Experience with Python or a similar scripting language
- Outstanding problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent teammate who enjoys a collaborative team environment
Qualifications
- 5+ years of relevant work experience in software development
- 2+ years of development in a system-level programming language
- Experience working on an Agile software development team
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience
Bonus Skills
- Familiarity with DNS at the protocol level
- Familiarity with containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes
- Exposure to behavior-driven testing frameworks such as Python Behave or Cucumber
Pay
The pay range for this position is $108,900 - $147,300. The anticipated annual base salary range is noted above, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Verisign offers a discretionary bonus based on individual and company performance, and certain roles may be eligible for discretionary stock awards.
