About the role

About Neuralink: We are creating devices that enable a bi-directional interface with the brain. These devices allow us to restore movement to the paralyzed, restore sight to the blind, and revolutionize how humans interact with their digital world.

Team Description: The Robot Manufacturing Software team allows Neuralink to build neurosurgical robots at a scale that has never been done before. Every robot that ships was tracked, assembled, calibrated, and verified through the software you'll build. This is the backbone of how we scale from early production to meeting real clinical demand. We're a small, tightly knit team - and this role is the first dedicated owner of the robot manufacturing software stack. As the company scales, so will the complexity, and you'll be the one designing and building the systems that make all of that possible. We operate as a tight, high-trust team. You'll have direct ownership and the autonomy to solve hard problems, but also high expectations. We're moving fast to meet clinical demand and keep up with deployments. 60-hour weeks are not uncommon, and there are stretches where the pace is high. This isn't for everyone.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with robot engineers and surgical engineers to understand their needs and build solutions.
  • Write code, pair with engineers to understand new calibration processes, and build tracking systems.
  • Develop inventory and warehouse management systems that track every component going into a neurosurgical robot - from raw materials through final assembly.
  • Build lifecycle management software that engineers use to build, calibrate, verify, and maintain robots throughout their entire lifespan.
  • Take on whatever else needs building, with real ownership over the direction the manufacturing software stack grows.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent demonstrated work experience.
  • Strong full-stack engineering skills (experience with Ruby on Rails and React/TypeScript is a plus, but ability to learn and ship is paramount).
  • Built software that real people use.
  • Able to talk to users, understand problems, and translate that into well-built software.
  • Take ownership: when your software breaks on the floor, you fix it.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity; manufacturing at this scale hasn't been done before for this kind of device.

Pay

The anticipated base salary for this position is expected to be within the range of $135,000 USD – $216,000 USD, based on job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. In addition to base salary, Neuralink offers equity compensation in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) for all full-time employees.

Benefits

  • Opportunity to change the world and work with some of the smartest and most talented experts from different fields.
  • Growth potential; rapid advancement for team members who have an outsized impact.
  • Excellent medical, dental, and vision insurance through a PPO plan.
  • Paid holidays.
  • Commuter benefits.
  • Meals provided.
  • Equity (RSUs) – temporary employees and interns excluded.
  • 401(k) plan – interns initially excluded until they work 1,000 hours.
  • Parental leave – temporary employees and interns excluded.
  • Flexible time off – temporary employees and interns excluded.
