About the role
The Resources team at Retool is responsible for making data readily available and accessible to support new use-cases built on Retool. This includes connecting any external resource and providing built-in resources to users.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and manage backend primitives such as RetoolDB and RetoolAI to enable users to focus on their business logic.
- Blend product thinking with API and backend design, ensuring intuitive and maintainable solutions.
- Debug customer problems and build features to meet their needs, such as integrating with Google Sheets or implementing OAuth integrations.
- Implement PKCE and other technical decisions to support 20M requests/day via 70+ ways to connect data.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software development experience, preferably in startups.
- Experience owning technically challenging and demanding cross-functional projects.
- Experience across the entire stack, from backend to frontend.
- Experience with cloud-based infrastructure like Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Ability to make technical decisions quickly, while involving key stakeholders.
- A customer-first mindset and interest in working closely with customers.
- A habit of introspection and understanding personal success factors.
Qualifications
- Experience in JavaScript / TypeScript is a plus.
- Experience building integration platforms or managing a large set of integrations is a plus.
- Familiarity with AI/LLM-backed systems, especially as part of a broader platform or product, is a plus.
- Mentoring experience is a plus.
