About the role

Role as a Software QA Engineer at Cisco involves validating and verifying the quality of our products through a balanced approach of manual and automated testing. Key responsibilities include designing and executing comprehensive test plans, developing automation scripts and frameworks, performing hands-on manual testing, and contributing to process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with front-end and back-end engineering teams to design, prepare, and execute test plans.
  • Perform manual testing on new features and regression testing to validate product functionality and user experience.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts and frameworks to streamline repetitive testing and improve coverage.
  • Automate provisioning of test environments and deployment of test data.
  • Conduct scale and performance testing using virtualized or cloud-based environments.
  • Track, document, and communicate defects, working closely with developers for resolution.

Requirements

  • Completion within the past 3 years, or current enrollment with expected completion within 12 months, of an undergraduate degree + 2 years of relevant experience or graduate degree + 0 years of relevant experience.
  • Relevant fields include: Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Ability to write functional, correct code with guidance and mentorship.
  • Experience in refining and rewriting test code as part of the debugging and testing lifecycle.
  • Capability to assist in scaling tests to improve system reliability and development velocity.
  • Proficiency in applying secure coding principles and adhering to established organizational security guidelines and supporting automated testing methodologies.

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical and communication skills; ability to clearly document issues and collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Experience with test management and bug tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, TestRail).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization.
  • Knowledge of test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, pyTest, Junit).
  • Experience with database testing and SQL.

Skills

Skills required for this role include proficiency in Linux/Unix environments, experience with CI/CD tools and practices, and knowledge of test automation frameworks.

Pay

The starting salary range for this position is $123,600.00 to $174,000.00, reflecting the projected salary range for new hires in U.S. and/or Canadian locations, not including incentive compensation, equity, or benefits. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location, market conditions, job-related skillset, experience, qualifications, education, certifications, and/or training.

Schedule

Employees may be eligible to receive paid time off, including 10 paid holidays per full calendar year, 1 paid day off for employee’s birthday, paid year-end holiday shutdown, and 4 paid days off for personal wellness. Non-exempt employees receive 16 days of paid vacation time per full calendar year, accrued at a rate of 4.92 hours per pay period for full-time employees. Exempt employees participate in Cisco’s flexible vacation time off program, which has no defined limit on how much vacation time eligible employees may use (subject to availability and some business limitations).
