About the role
Delavan Holdings is hiring two Software Engineers in Delavan, WI to build internal applications, system integrations, and AI‑assisted automation using Python, TypeScript, and React on Azure. This is a full‑time, on‑site position working directly with the teams who use what you ship.
- Build and ship internal tools and applications end‑to‑end across front‑end, back‑end, and data to solve concrete operating‑company problems.
- Prototype quickly, validate with real users, harden what sticks, and replace or retire what does not.
- Integrate line‑of‑business systems via APIs, exports, and webhooks, creating custom glue where off‑the‑shelf options fall short.
- Develop AI‑assisted automations and agent workflows that materially reduce manual effort, applying the same engineering discipline as any other software.
- Take automations built by non‑technical users with Claude and rebuild them as production‑grade, scalable software while preserving original intent and adding reliability, security, and maintainability.
- Work directly with operating‑company stakeholders to translate loose requirements into shippable software with a fast feedback loop.
- Maintain code in GitHub with code review, write appropriate tests, and manage deployments through staged Azure environments.
- Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, stand‑ups, reviews, and retrospectives; keep work current in Asana and raise blockers early.
- Document what you build: functionality, integrations, authentication, and deployment details.
- Handle credentials, access, and data responsibly, following least‑privilege access, secret management, and data‑governance practices.
- Design for resilience and adaptability, favoring simple architectures and portable formats.
- Support and monitor shipped solutions, reproduce issues, diagnose root causes, fix problems, communicate status, write RCA reports, and conduct lessons‑learned reviews.
- Track impact and reliability, share reusable patterns, and help prioritize future work.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in software engineering, full‑stack development, or systems integration, shipping working software.
- Proficiency in Python and TypeScript or JavaScript, with hands‑on React experience building and maintaining web applications front‑to‑back.
- Strong SQL skills (ideally PostgreSQL) and experience with an ORM such as SQLAlchemy, Prisma, or Entity Framework, including schema design and query optimization.
- Experience integrating systems through REST APIs, webhooks, and file exports, using authentication patterns like OAuth, API keys, and service accounts.
- Comfort with a modern development workflow: Git, GitHub, code review, VS Code, and routine test writing.
- Experience with Azure services and deployment patterns.
- Sound security and data‑governance habits: least‑privilege access, secret management, and careful handling of sensitive data across multiple entities.
- Pragmatic, iterative working style with good judgment about when a scrappy approach is appropriate.
- Strong written and verbal communication; willingness to sit with non‑technical operators to understand their work before coding.
What Sets You Apart
- Hands‑on production experience with LLM APIs, retrieval‑augmented generation, or agent frameworks, and judgment about where AI genuinely adds value.
- Technical lead experience, owning architecture decisions and guiding other engineers.
- Experience setting engineering standards (code review, testing, CI/CD, documentation).
- Mentoring experience, formal or informal.
- Being the first or second engineer on a team, building foundational processes.
- Experience with event‑driven architectures (queues, pub/sub, streaming) such as Redis.
- Deploying and operating production systems, including containers, serverless, CI/CD, and monitoring.
- Working under financial‑reporting controls or audit requirements (change logging, access review).
- Training users and driving adoption of built solutions.
- Background in automotive retail, hospitality, logistics, or multi‑entity/holding‑company environments.
Why Delavan Holdings

- Portfolio spanning automotive retail, RV, hospitality, logistics, and fulfillment, offering varied technical challenges.
- AI is a core, budgeted capability used daily by leadership and integrated into engineering work.
