Description
Interclypse is seeking a Senior Python Developer to support a federal agency's migration from a legacy OpenVMS/Itanium server infrastructure and DCL scripting environment to a modern Python-based middleware platform. You will work as part of a small, senior developer team under the agency's technical direction, writing production-quality Python code within a disciplined Agile/DevSecOps framework. This is a Firm-Fixed-Price engagement — we expect self-directed professionals who take ownership of deliverables and meet acceptance criteria without heavy management oversight.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop Python/FastAPI middleware services that replace legacy OpenVMS DCL script processing, including POLLVAX, TO_FDSYS, and other identified batch scripts
- Build file processing pipelines, data routing engines, hot folder watchers, and workflow management components
- Implement a dual-mode delivery system supporting both legacy share emulation and modern REST API access
- Develop SSO-integrated authentication and authorization, user and role management, and audit logging
- Create Axway FTP server integration for congressional file intake and Windows NAS connectivity for file storage
- Build task queuing systems, database integration for metadata tracking, and event-driven processing with real-time file monitoring
- Implement automated backup, error recovery/retry mechanisms, and performance optimization for concurrent client connections
- Design and execute a comprehensive testing framework including unit, integration, and UAT automated test suites
- Participate in 2-week Agile sprints, bi-weekly demos, and DevSecOps gates under agency direction
- Contribute to monthly status reports, development logs, sprint code releases, and support documentation
