Software Engineer, Notifications

About the role

Discord plays a uniquely important role in the future of gaming, and we are focused on making it easier and more fun for people to hang out before, during, and after playing games. The Notifications squad is a multidisciplinary group of engineers working across client experiences, infrastructure, and machine learning to make sure every notification Discord sends is high signal and high value.

Responsibilities

• Improve client device experiences for receiving notifications and tailoring notification preferences
• Build the platform that enables all other teams in the company to send delightful notifications while delivering the maximum value to our users
• Pair with Machine Learning engineers to optimize global notification signals and quality
• Maintain a high quality bar for our platform’s operational health and client performance
• Pair with Product and Design leads to find the right solutions that balance delight, speed of delivery and impact

Requirements

• 2+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Proficiency in one or more of Python, Elixir, or Typescript with eagerness to learn new languages and skills

• An attention to detail and a quality-first mindset: you sweat the right details and catch your own bugs before they reach customers
• You are motivated to help your team members succeed, grow, and learn from each other through empathetic feedback
• A customer-focused approach and comfort working toward clear, measurable team goals

Skills

• You are a Discord user, and understand the core features and flow of Discord communications
• You have previously worked on notifications or been a part of a growth team

Benefits

• The US base salary range for this full-time position is $160,000 to $180,000 + equity + benefits
