About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Staff Software Developer to join our Global Cloud Services organization, specifically within the FinOps Tools team. This team is responsible for building ServiceNow’s next-generation analytics and financial governance platform, leveraging a full modern data stack including Trino, dbt, Iceberg, Lightdash, and Argo Workflows. As a founding engineer dedicated to Forecasting & Planning Applications, you will be instrumental in designing, architecting, and implementing a comprehensive full-stack platform that enables our finance and engineering teams to forecast, plan, and optimize cloud spending at an enterprise scale. In this role, you will be at the forefront of building a cloud-native forecasting and planning platform that supports data-driven financial governance across ServiceNow’s multi-cloud infrastructure.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering with expertise in full-stack development and cloud-native architecture, or equivalent experience with relevant degrees (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD).
- Proficiency in React (preferably React 19), TypeScript, and modern web development tools like Vite.
- Strong backend skills with Node.js and Express for API development and business logic implementation.
- Extensive experience designing and building complex, data-intensive web applications.
- Deep understanding of SQL, relational databases, and analytical databases such as Trino, DuckDB, PostgreSQL.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and container orchestration for deploying cloud-native applications.
- Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and version control systems such as Git.
- Ability to translate functional requirements into technical specifications and deliver production-ready solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, finance, and operations teams.
- Experience with modern data stack technologies like dbt, Iceberg, and data lakehouse architectures.
- Familiarity with AI tools and automation practices, with a mindset toward innovation and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Design and architect full-stack forecasting and planning applications aligned with functional requirements.
- Lead technical decision-making on application architecture, data modeling, and integration patterns.
- Develop modern web applications using React, TypeScript, and Vite, ensuring high performance and usability.
- Create backend services with Node.js and Express, creating robust APIs and business logic layers.
- Integrate forecasting applications with the modern data stack, including Trino, dbt, and Iceberg.
- Implement data pipelines and ETL workflows utilizing Argo Workflows for automated data processing.
- Optimize query performance for large-scale datasets and create interactive dashboards and visualizations.
- Design scalable data models, schemas, and security measures such as authentication and authorization.
- Establish observability, monitoring, and logging frameworks to ensure application health and performance.
- Deploy and manage applications on Kubernetes, ensuring scalability, resource management, and security.
- Translate stakeholder requirements into detailed engineering specifications and documentation.
- Leverage AI development tools to accelerate development cycles and foster innovation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including DevOps, FinOps, and Data Engineering, to ensure seamless integration and deployment.
- Mentor junior engineers, establish coding standards, and promote best practices within the team.
