Software Engineer - MSE, Manufacturing Systems Engineering

Amazon LEO is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. MSE is responsible for delivering software that runs on custom hardware and helps manage satellite manufacturing.

About the role

We are looking for an engineer with experience in device software, TCP communications, system-level C/C++/Rust programming, and knowledge of foundational AWS cloud services such as IAM, Lambdas, Step Functions, and CloudWatch. The candidate will participate in all phases of software development—from requirements through implementation, test, and operations—and engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary team to conceive and design solutions.

You will work with cross-functional partner teams, lead efforts from requirements to deployment, and participate in the design, integration, and improvement of software. This includes designing and implementing low-level software on custom hardware and other system-level programming activities.

Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement system architecture for a manufacturing dev/test lab.
• Partner with device software, frontend, networking, and security engineering teams to build scalable lab infrastructure.
• Scale production implementation to support global deployments to manufacturing and contract manufacturer (CM) sites.
• Build low-latency, highly scalable architectures critical to delivering high-quality internet service to customers.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) for new and existing systems.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.

Pay

USA, WA, Redmond - $143,700.00 - $194,400.00 USD annually.
