Software Engineer - MID

As a Software Engineer-Mid, you will support U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) located at MacDill AFB (Tampa), Florida.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain data-driven backend systems to provide secure, high-performance search and analytics capabilities, focusing on U.S. national security missions.
• Develop applications using Python (preferably with Streamlit) or JavaScript/TypeScript (using React).
• Develop backend services for data ingestion and retrieval.
• Design APIs and microservices using Python Flask or FastAPI.
• Implement DevSecOps practices, including CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code.
• Conduct Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) on Commercially Available Information (CAI), Publicly Available Information (PAI), and other datasets.
• Work with Postgres databases and SQLAlchemy for data access.

Requirements

• Current Top Secret/SCI clearance with the Department of War (DoW).
• 5+ years of related software development experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
• U.S. citizenship is required.
• 5 days on-site at MacDill AFB, Tampa, Florida.

Skills

• Proficient in JavaScript/TypeScript and React.
• Proficient in Python, Flask, or FastAPI.
• Experience with relational/non-relational databases, including Postgres and Elasticsearch.
• Proficient with Git, SQLAlchemy, and basic CI/CD pipeline support.
• Familiarity with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and DevSecOps tools.
• Experience with backend programming languages such as Python, Go, or Java.
• Experience with search and data systems, cloud infrastructure, and container orchestration.

Pay

The likely salary range for this position is $106,250 - $143,750. Salary will be set based on experience, geographic location, and contractual requirements.

Schedule

• Scheduled weekly hours: 40.
• Travel required: Less than 10%.
• Telecommuting options: Onsite (MacDill AFB, Tampa, Florida).
