Software Engineer, Mapping

About the role

The Aurora Driver is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Mapping team. This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining the scalable backend infrastructure and data processing pipeline for storing and serving map data.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain the scalable backend infrastructure and data processing pipeline for storing and serving map data.
• Partner closely with internal and external customers to influence existing and future designs and features.
• Establish and maintain robust testing and performance optimization practices to ensure the stability and scalability of the Atlas system.

Requirements

• 4+ years experience building server side and data processing systems.
• Expert proficiency in C++ with a commitment to writing clean, testable, and production-ready code.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems principles, with a proven ability to deliver scalable, reliable backend systems.
• Strong understanding of cloud-native technologies (e.g., AWS, GCP, Kubernetes).
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Proven ability to rapidly learn new technologies and adapt to evolving requirements.

Qualifications

• M.S. or Ph.D in Computer Science or a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Domain experience with geospatial data, mapping systems, or high-throughput data pipelines.
• Working proficiency in Python and Golang.

Skills

• Experience with distributed systems and cloud-native technologies.
• Proficiency in C++, Python, and Golang.
• Knowledge of geospatial data and mapping systems.

Benefits

Aurora offers a competitive compensation package including a base salary range of $146,000 - $234,000, an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $146,000 - $234,000. Aurora's pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions.

Schedule

Senior employees at Aurora work in a hybrid environment, spending at least 3 days per week in the office.
