The Machine Learning Engineer role at Slack focuses on leveraging machine learning and artificial intelligence to enhance the Slackbot experience and improve product features. Responsibilities
- Leverage machine learning and artificial intelligence expertise to drive improvements in the Slackbot experience.
- Develop ML models supporting ranking, retrieval, and generative AI use-cases.
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and Frontend Engineers to conceptualize and build new features.
- Produce high-quality results by leading or contributing to large multi-functional projects.
- Actively own features or systems and define their long-term health.
- Support the development of sustainable data collection pipelines and management of ML features.
- Assist the support team in triaging and resolving production issues.
- Mentor other engineers and conduct code reviews.
- Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes.
Requirements
- Experience with functional or imperative programming languages such as PHP, Python, Ruby, Go, C, Scala, or Java.
- Familiarity with common ML frameworks like PyTorch, Tensorflow, Keras, XGBoost, or Scikit-learn.
- Experience in fine-tuning LLMs or BERT models.
- Experience building batch data processing pipelines with tools like Apache Spark, Hadoop, EMR, Map Reduce, Airflow, Dagster, or Luigi.
- An analytical and data-driven mindset with the ability to measure success with complicated ML/AI products.
- Experience in putting machine learning models or other data-derived artifacts into production at scale.
- Strong communication skills to explain complex technical concepts to various stakeholders.
Pay
$128,500 - $285,800 per year
