About the role
As a Software Engineer Level 0 at Independent Software, you will develop, maintain, and enhance software applications supporting mission-critical government systems. This role is ideal for recent graduates or entry-level software engineers looking to build their careers in a collaborative environment while supporting national security missions.
Responsibilities
- Analyze user requirements to develop software design and performance solutions
- Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications and components
- Debug existing software and resolve defects
- Modify existing software to add new features and improve functionality
- Integrate software into new or modified operating environments
- Develop simple database queries for existing and proposed data repositories
- Participate in software testing and document test results
- Support software integration and system validation activities
- Contribute to software design discussions, including hardware/software tradeoffs and reuse of Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) and Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) solutions
- Follow established software development methodologies and engineering best practices
- Collaborate with software engineers and system engineers to deliver high-quality software solutions
Requirements
- Basic knowledge of software development principles and object-oriented programming
- Familiarity with one or more programming languages such as Java, Python, C++, or similar
- Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) concepts
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to learn new technologies and development tools
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline from an accredited college or university OR
- Four (4) years of Software Engineering experience on projects utilizing similar software development processes may be substituted for a bachelor's degree
Must possess an active TS SCI with appropriate Polygraph to be considered for this role.
