Software Engineer L2 - Finance & Accounting Platform

About the role

The role of a forward deployed software engineer is to be the technical owner of our health plan Finance and Accounting (F&A) platform. This is a deeply data-intensive application that pulls large volumes of financial data from many sources, transforms and reconciles it, and turns it into the accurate analysis the business depends on.

Responsibilities

• Sit at the intersection of engineering and F&A operations, embedded with the people who use the software.
• Join the F&A team's working sessions, hear directly where the numbers don't line up, and ship the fix the same week.
• Track where the system and the source of truth disagree, and chase down why.
• Design and ship AI agents that handle support and billing issues and automate the manual processes the F&A team runs by hand today.
• Watch the data, surface what the data shows, propose changes, and close the loop.
• Translate the pain of non-technical stakeholders into scope, push back when a request won’t solve the real problem, and build trust by shipping reliably.
• Co-own the product plan with F&A and product stakeholders, sequencing work, flagging what is infeasible, proposing alternatives, and shaping the roadmap.
• Build tooling that makes AI more effective on your codebase, and set the technical strategy for your platform.

Requirements

You need foundational skills such as strong systems and architecture thinking, product taste, and fluency in Python and TypeScript. You must have 5+ years of shipping production software, experience building data-intensive applications, a correctness mindset, and systems thinking. You should also have experience working with financial data and comfort working directly with non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

You should have a portfolio of AI-assisted work, experience being the single owner of a non-trivial service in production, experience with data-intensive or financial systems, and an interest in working with financial data and the discipline that comes with it.

Skills

Foundational skills such as strong systems and architecture thinking, product taste, and fluency in Python and TypeScript are essential. You should also have experience building data-intensive applications, a correctness mindset, and systems thinking.
