Software Engineer – Java (Qty 4)

Remote 3-month W2 contract (potential for extensions) with a financial-services client. No PTO or benefits; ACA-compliant supplemental package available for enrollment. Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. and able to sit on Primary Talent Partners W2 without sponsorship.

About the role

Client Financial Services (FRFS) delivers a suite of payments services to financial institutions via FedLine® Solutions, FedWire® Funds and Securities, the National Settlement Service (NSS), FedCash®, FedACH®, Check Services, and the FedNow® Service. FRFS operates as a fully integrated organization with groups dedicated to customer experience, operations, technology, product and customer/industry management, enterprise services, payments system improvement, and the ongoing growth and development of the FedNow instant-payment service.

The FRFS Technology Group is seeking four Senior Java Software Engineers to design, develop, and implement highly secure, enterprise-grade web-based applications and backend components that support critical business requirements. As a recognized elite individual contributor and subject-matter expert, you will work with limited supervision, apply independent judgment, and deliver scalable, maintainable solutions. You will partner with product teams to drive adoption, resolve complex technical issues, and elevate the group’s technical capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Follow approved lifecycle methodologies, create comprehensive design documents, and perform rigorous coding and testing while upholding the highest secure-coding standards.
• Engage with product teams as a trusted technical partner to resolve complex technical issues through debugging, research, and investigation.
• Leverage hands-on tech-lead or senior-contributor experience to elevate the team’s technical capabilities.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with Core Java, Spring Ecosystem (Spring Framework, Spring Security, etc.), UI (Angular), and database skills (SQL, Oracle, performance tuning).
• Hands-on experience with secure coding and application security.
• Hands-on experience with unit, integration, and functional testing.
• Expert-level knowledge of JMS, messaging middleware (IBM MQ preferred), and Spring JMS.
• Advanced-level experience with REST APIs and JSON.
• Advanced-level Spring Boot and Spring Batch experience.
• Experienced knowledge of AWS and cloud technologies.
• Excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of directly related experience and/or education; degree in Computer Science or Engineering preferred.
• Eight years of experience preferred.

Pay

$87.00 – $107.00/hr
