About the role

The Raytheon team is looking for a Software Engineering Intern to support the Missile Defense Sensors (MDS) Software (SW) Department in the summer of 2027. The MDS SW mission is to provide world class Radar and Command and Control (C2) Software for our customers' wide array of Surveillance and Warning Systems. We align to the core Agile and DevSecOps principles of collaborative operation across the entire value stream, delivering high-frequency, high-quality deployments to our customers. Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and release software products for one of our Radar or C2 programs, including the AN/TPY-2 Radar, the Sea-Based X-Band Radar (SBX/XBR), and the Taiwan Surveillance Radar Program (SRP)
  • Assist and participate in the requirements, design, development and testing of real-time application software and tools, to include development of new work products or enhancement of existing applications and systems
  • Participate in internal reviews of software components and systems
  • Work on problems with defined scope, schedule, and expectations
  • Follow established development practices and processes to maintain the configuration management of software products

What you will learn

  • The workings of Missile Defense Systems and/or Command and Control (C2) Systems
  • How to develop and maintain large-scale, complex software solutions in an agile environment
  • Testing frameworks and best practices to enable high-quality software deliveries utilizing Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery concepts

Qualifications you must have

  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor's or Advanced degree in an applicable discipline and actively enrolled through completion of the internship / co-op session
  • Experience developing software with C, C++, Java, or Ada
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance prior to the start date
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications we value

  • Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins), configuration management tools (Git, Bitbucket, Artifactory), and data analysis tools (MATLAB, Python)
  • Knowledge of data structures and algorithms, memory management, and multithreaded applications
  • Well-developed communication, technical writing, oral presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience contributing to a team environment for the purpose of developing creative solutions to complex technical problems
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment with time-critical requirements
  • Ability to promote a culture of continuous learning, cross-team collaboration and training

Pay

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Schedule

This is an onsite role. Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This position requires the ability to obtain a security clearance.
